#363 - light one candle

Don't let the light go out
it's lasted for so many years.
Don't let the light go out
let it shine through our love and our tears.

- Peter Yarrow (Peter, Paul, and Mary)

While Hanukkah is over for the year, I came across this menorah while out today and appreciated its significance--representation of so many New Yorkers.
"Light One Candle" is one of my most favorite holiday songs.

Along with books and my dog, Rico's is one of the longest loves of my life.

13 years and counting for this relationship.

#354 - that's my boy

While I was having a travel day I'd rather forget, Casper the dog went to the vet.

He gets so excited and therefore is fodder for silly photos in which he looks like a doofus.

#349 - lights

City sidewalks
busy sidewalks
dressed in holiday style
in the air there's the feeling
of Christmas

#348 - walking down library way

A word is dead
When it is said,
Some say.

I say it just
Begins to live
That day.

Stopped by Random House this afternoon.
Their lobby still amazes me.

#339 - boy tree

It is definitely tree season.

This is our office building's tree. (The photo is a bit blurry. Not my best.)

You can tell it is a boy because it has no hips.

#338 - nyc christmas tree lots

In Manhattan, Christmas trees are sold on the sidewalks.

Some "lots" are bigger than others. In about 20 Upper West Side blocks I saw 5 or 6 today.

I almost bought this little guy.
"All it needs is a little love."
(Charlie Brown Christmas, anyone?)

#337 - deck the halls

I spent the morning at Jennie Clark residence where we. . .

helped the kids decorate their rec room

baked cookies

played games and colored.

Such wonderful, bright kids.
Such a joy to be a part of their day.

#328 - happy thanksgiving

Thanksgiving comes to us out of the prehistoric dimness,
universal to all ages and all faiths.
At whatever straws we must grasp,
there is always a time for gratitude and new beginnings.

#327 - leaves' leaving

"I don't mind the leaves that are leaving. It's the leaves that are coming."
- Piglet (Winnie the Pooh and the Blustery Day)

I mind the leaves' leaving. This tree was full and orange just a few days ago. Winter is coming.
